It amazes me to see how a single piece of statement jewelry can really elevate an outfit. Whether it's paired with a plain white tee and boyfriend jeans, or a little black dress and stilettos, statement jewelry can totally transform your entire outfit within seconds. Personally, I seem to gravitate more towards statement necklaces and watches. When searching for pieces to add to my collection, I try to keep in mind that versatility is important. Therefore, I look for pieces that can be worn both casual and dressy.

As I came across these wise words from Rachel Zoe over the weekend, it got me thinking. . . when to splurge or save? Sometimes it can be difficult to know which items to splurge on and which to save on instead. I have come to realize that it's important to invest in the timeless items that every girl should have in her closet, like classic pumps, an ultra chic LBD, a classic designer handbag, tall boots and a leather jacket. What you should be saving on is blouses, graphic tees, blazers, fashion jewellery and the latest colour trend or fad of the season. When it comes to jeans, people tend to think that you need to spend lots of money for a good pair, but what's most important here is the fit. Sometimes the jeans that fit you the best are actually the most affordable.

As I came across these words of wisdom from Michael Kors, I was instantly reminded of the importance of accessories and their role in achieving a well polished look. Not only do they complete an ensemble, they give you endless outfit possibilities.
Trends are always changing, so when it comes to shoes and handbags, I have learned that it's much more wise and budget friendly (in the long run) to invest in classic timeless pieces that will take you through each season and remain with you through the years. Accessories like fashion jewellery, scarves and belts, on the other hand, are relatively inexpensive. Retailers offer an endless amount of affordable pieces which makes it easy to build your collection. What's important here is having a good eye. You want to choose items that will enhance your style and bring out your personality. Personally, when it comes to jewellery, my top favourite pieces are watches and statement rings. Occasionally, I like to add a bit of glam with a statement necklace but it really depends on the outfit, or the event.
As Michael said, accessories are like an exclamation point. . . it's the little details that really make an outfit stand out, so be creative and have fun!
Lagerfeld's words here are so true. A little black dress can take you anywhere! Classic, simple, effortlessly chic. The LBD can be sophisticated and classy by day, elegant and sexy by night. Every woman needs a black dress!
As I read these words a few weeks ago, I realized that a simple black dress is something that my wardrobe is lacking. I have black sequins, black lace, black pin stripe, but not plain black. So, my hunt for the perfect LBD begins.
