As I've mentioned before, casual isn't a word I would use to describe my personal style. The few pieces of casual clothing that I own are mostly for days spent relaxing at home or days spent at the cottage, which means I don't get much wear out of them. So, this week, I've given myself a little fashion challenge: to style a casual denim shirt.
I had no idea how versatile a denim shirt could be!! It's perfect for layering and can be worn with pretty much everything! Definitely a wardrobe staple. Also, I've always wanted to try the red & purple combo and this striped sweater was the perfect item to help me ease into the trend.

Well, I'm back from my little visit with Brandon. Back to Mum, back to work, back to my regular routine and . . . back to the awful and disgusting site of snow. Ugh! As I drove further away from Brandon and further up north, the more snow I saw. All I wanted to do was turn around! I was happy to see Mum and my dog Spencer though. :)
This is the outfit I wore to the Museum of African American History while in Detroit with Brandon. Unfortunately I only got to visit the outside of the building because we chose to go on a day that it was closed. So disappointing!! Definitely on my to-do-list for next time!
When it comes to accessories, the black & gold combo is definitely a favorite!

Hello dear readers. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far. It's a long weekend for us Canadians (Family Day on Monday) so I took advantage of the extra time off from work to visit Brandon in Michigan. The weather is a bit warmer here and there's hardly any snow. Such a nice change! We have a few fun activities planned, which is what I love about visiting Brandon. There's so much to see and do compared to my small and boring town. Last night we attended a presentation of the Academy Award nominated short films at the Detroit Film Theatre, which was very interesting! Within the next couple of days we plan on visiting the Museum of African American History which I'm super excited to see, and I somehow convinced him to go see Safe Haven. :D I'm a huge Nicholas Sparks fan! I'm also dying to go shopping but I'm supposed to be saving my money. Hmmm . . . maybe just a bit of window shopping. :D
On to some fashion talk. Stripes are still a huge trend and I'm thrilled to see that they will be around in the next season as well. Lately, I've been trying to incorporate some of my summer clothes into my winter wardrobe, so I paired a black and white striped blazer with this Chambray skirt from my summer wardrobe. I've always loved the look of Stripes and Chambray. To keep it from looking too casual, I've added some glitzy accessories and my bedazzled pumps.
