This past weekend I celebrated my 28th birthday! I went to Gliss for dinner, as I do every year, and it was absolutely delicious! Brandon had the waitress surprise me with a slice of cake and a happy birthday serenade, which was a little embarrassing but nonetheless a very sweet gesture. :) Words I would use to describe my birthday celebration : Brandon, Mum, Thor 3D, Popcorn, Peanut Butter Fudge, Tequila Rose, Gliss, H&M, Miss Dior and Velvet Print Pants.

These black floral print pants from Maurices (similar style here, and here) are a birthday gift from Mum. I've had my eyes on these for a while and was super thrilled to be able to add them to my wardrobe (thank you mummy dearest). I love the subtle velvet print. A great way to add a bit of flare to an otherwise simple black pant. I decided on a black and white combo for a coffee date with mum today. Black and white is one of my favourite combinations. Like Coco Chanel said "It is the perfect harmony".

Sometimes while walking around downtown on a cold afternoon, Mum and I like to stop in at Dish | Espresso Bar & Cafe to warm up with a nice coffee or tea. Usually during the fall/winter months, my favourite warm and cozy drink is either a Chai Latte or a White Hot Chocolate with Chai Tea from Tim Horton's, but today I decided to try something different and I think I might have found a new favourite drink. White Chocolate Latte. Delish! What is your favourite cold weather drink?

Lagerfeld's words here are so true. A little black dress can take you anywhere! Classic, simple, effortlessly chic. The LBD can be sophisticated and classy by day, elegant and sexy by night. Every woman needs a black dress!

As I read these words a few weeks ago, I realized that a simple black dress is something that my wardrobe is lacking. I have black sequins, black lace, black pin stripe, but not plain black. So, my hunt for the perfect LBD begins.

Tartan, Plaid, Check - However you choose to call it, this hot trend definitely needs to be incorporated into your wardrobe this season. Whether it's a pencil skirt or slim pant, a blazer or jacket, or in small doses such as a scarf or bag, it's a must own item. I had been searching for a Tartan coat since the beginning of the fall season so I was more than thrilled when Mum and I spotted this one at Suzy Shier last week, on sale! I went for a more casual look, pairing the Tartan coat with jeans and moto boots, but I can't wait to style it with something more dressy, like a LBD or perhaps a mini skirt.

These quilted and studded boots from JustFab, are also a new purchase. I've had my eyes on these for a while and was finally able to snatch them up before they disappeared (they are now completely sold out in my size).

Have you ever gone through a bad breakup and eaten an entire carton of ice cream, or perhaps you turn to chocolate, music, a good book, or a nice warm bath when you are feeling stressed or sad. I'm definitely the type of girl that likes to shop in those situations. Looking at clothes instantly makes me feel better, even if it's only a temporary fix. I think every fashionista can relate to this quote, from "Confessions of a Shopaholic - the movie", which is also a great read by the way, if you are feeling down. It actually had me laughing out loud.

The cold weather is fast approaching so I've had warm and cozy on the brain lately. My coat collection is already gigantic, but there are so many I'm crushing on at the moment. Some people have a weakness for shoes, or purses, or jewellery. . . but for me, it's coats, jackets and blazers. I just never seem to have enough. A classic black coat is definitely a necessity in every woman's wardrobe. You can dress it up or down, and it goes with everything. This Guess coat (available at Bootlegger) is classic black with a twist. I'm loving the leather accents and the faux blazer overlay. Blush pink is a major colour trend this fall/winter season which makes this pink Club Monaco coat a must have! A few other major trends are wool moto coats, leather sleeves and prints (Tartan, Leopard, Check, etc.) . As I've mentioned in previous blog posts, my style isn't super casual, but for days when I do want to be comfy/casual and wear jeans, riding boots and a chunky sweater, the Anorak Jacket is definitely a must have.
